James Oates was born 26.03.65 in the small town of Seaham, in North East England. In 1995 Hybrid published his chapbook Ripples in the Dreampool and in 1997 he won the East Durham Writer of the Year Prize in the Prose (open) category. He has performed his work widely throughout the UK and appeared in many small press magazines. James also won the Voxbox Individual Slam Poetry Competition 2008 in Edinburgh.
