Synopsis
In the first English language anthology of Russian poets to emerge from the new era, thirty-five poets write against the backdrop of the newly liberalised climate.Well known names such as Yevtushenko, Voznesensky and Brodsky here rub shoulders with such experimental new poets as Druk and Rubinshtein. Women poets are strongly represented through Polina Ivanova, Yunna Moritz, Elena Shvarts, Ekaterina Shevelyova and others. The poems in this book have either been written in the glasnost era, or their publication made possible through it.
