Synopsis

My Piece of Happiness by Lewis Davies

A novel about love, friendship - and delivering papers.

‘Proof that high quality fiction is being published within Wales...It is a triumph of careful and sensitive writing.’ - Mario Basini, The Western Mail

‘Despite imperfections this is a brave work, hovering occasionally on the edge of brilliance.’ - Glenda Beagan, Planet

‘It has integrity. The anger, outrage, frustration is finely honed and does not tip over into diatribe or cynicism. The simplicity of the prose is deceptive, its effect admirable. A well-crafted novel that manages to be uplifting.’ - Scrawl

‘A remarkable novel...wry and understated but charged with a muted lyricism.’
- Cambrensis

‘The book was very moving but also extremely witty. I laughed out loud at the discussions that took place in some of the meetings. It made a fairly grim train journey to London a lot more pleasurable.’ - Julian Hallet.

Lewis Davies’s first novel Work, Sex and Rugby established Parthian Books in 1993. His other work includes Tree of Crows and two stage plays My Piece of Happiness and Without Leave, both produced by Made in Wales. He won the John Morgan Award for his travel book Freeways A Journey West on Route 66 and The Rhys Davies Prize for Mr. Roopratna’s Chocolate. He has also written for the HTV drama Nuts and Bolts and was co-editor of the Mama’s Baby (Papa’s Maybe) New Welsh Short Fiction Initiative
