Philip Gross and Miriam Gamble at the Wordsworth Trust

Philip Gross and Miriam Gamble at the Wordsworth TrustPhilip Gross’ win of the 2009 T S Eliot Prize has brought into the public eye a writer who has for many years been one of our most consistently interesting poets. His prize-winning latest collection, The Water Table, is set around the Severn estuary.

Miriam Gamble is one of our most distinctive younger writers. Her reading at the Trust marks the publication of her first full-length collection The Squirrels Are Dead.

Sheila Hillier and Omar Sabbagh at LumenJoin Cinnamon poet Omar Sabbagh for the launch of his debut collection My Only Ever Oedipal Complaint in London.

Omar will be joined by fellow Cinnamon author Sheila Hillier, who will be reading from A Quechua Confession Manual - described by Todd Swift as "one of the most captivating and thrilling poetry books I have ever read".

Tuesday 14th September, Lumen, 88 Tavistock Place, WC1 H9RT, Tubes: Russell Square or Kings Cross. Doors open 6:30 for 7pm. Poets from the floor also welcome for open mic.

Andrew Forster at Ware Poets, HertfordshireFollowing the release of his second poetry collection, Territory, Andrew Forster will be giving a reading at the Ware Poets poetry evening in Hertfordshire.

Friday 1st October, Ware Arts Centre, Kibes Lane, Ware, Hertfordshire, SG12 7ED, 8pm. Copies of Andrew’s collection will be available for purchase on the evening.

Gladys Mary Coles at the Chester Literature Festival

Wednesday 20th October

Gladys Mary Coles at the Chester Literature FestivalGladys Mary Coles will be releasing her debut novel, Clay, later in the year, and as part of the wonderful Chester Literature Festival will be giving a reading from the book.

The Torbay Poetry Festival'One Long Poetry Party'

The Torbay Poetry Festival runs from Thursday 28th October to Monday 1st November 2010.

The Festival features renowned readers like Alan Brownjohn, Wendy Cope, Martyn Crucefix, Philip Gross and Penelope Shuttle. There are also workshops, open mics, excursions, lunches, the Festival Supper... all mixed with friendliness, fun and a high standard of poetry.
